The Nutcracker

(Published on 22. December 2025, 20:00 by Scojo)

I set these puzzles during 2024's CTC Secret Santa Exchange as a gift for Katie Splendor.

Part 1:
  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • A pink Renban line consists of a consecutive sequence of digits in any order. The two dancers are two separate renbans that share a cell.
  • Neighboring digits on a green German Whispers line have a difference of at least 5.
  • Teddy bears separate digits where one is double the other. Not all possible teddy bears are shown.
  • Sparkles separate consecutive digits. Not all possible sparkles are shown.

Part 2:
  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • A digit on a soldier represents how many of that digit appear on a soldier.
  • A digit on a mouse represents how many of that digit appear on a mouse. The mouse king (the one wearing the crown) is counted as a mouse for the purpose of this rule, but does not contain the same digit as any other mouse.

Part 3:
  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Region borders divide the blue Region Sum Line into segments with equal sums.
  • Digits separated by a tree sum to 10. Digits separated by a snowflake sum to 5. Not all possible trees and snowflakes are shown.

Part 4:
  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Digits in cages cannot repeat and must sum to the clue in the top left corner of the cage.
  • Digits along a marked diagonal sum to the clue next to the arrow, and may repeat if allowed by other rules.
  • All clues have been encrypted. Each sweet represents a digit from 0-9, and no two sweets represent the same digit. A two digit clue may not have 0 as its leading digit.

Tried to solve it again from scratch before entering the solution code, but I think I'm groggy from all the Christmas prep. Thank you again for the wonderful present!
