Normal 6x6 Sudoku rules apply.

MINESWEEPER
- Shade some cells ("mines") and leave some unshaded ("cleared"). Two cleared cells are shown.
- Each digit in a cleared cell indicates how many mines are in the (up to 8) surrounding cells.
- No two 2x3 boxes have the same number of mines.

The description of the solution could be slightly better. I thought it was the total number of mines in the top two rows. Or, second try was number of mines in row one and two separately (two digits).

Maybe "Digits in/of the mines in the top two rows would be a little bit more clear?"

Other than that, I had a a lot of fun solving this puzzle - thank you for this!

Nice, at first I thought I might have overlooked a rule but after the first cell it was pretty smooth sailing

Another beautiful beast! I came in with so much confidence but the logic here really broke my brain (in a good way)!

Very cool!

Amazing!

Very interesting rules! Once I take another way of viewing the rules, everything becomes very smooth. Thanks for your combination of mine-doku.

17min, a fun one once i got my head around the rules.

on 17. December 2025, 17:01 by Calvinball
That was so cool! When can we expert the 99 mine version?! :P

on 17. December 2025, 16:31 by kagiso
We need a full sized version of this. At first I didn't understand the rules but this was so lovely to solve afterwards.

Haha, brilliant!

Absolutely brilliant. While wasting hours on Minesweeper back in the day, I never had as much fun as with this one.

I totally agree with others, this is a fun puzzle. We need more of this type.

Very cool miracle puzzle!

What a stunner! Up there with the very best 6x6s I've done. Perfect ruleset with a miraculous and always satisfying flow, right up until the fantastic ending. Could not be improved. Felt so much like a discovery, I'm very curious how much work went on behind the scenes to find a working solution, or did it all fall into place magically?

Always a fan of minesweeper-type sudokus, and that was/is surely a quintessential one -- well done to you two!

@soyorin: it only seems so… when in doubt, either look at the rule set again or check what happens on certain remaining cells.

It seems that the solution is not unique in blocks 1,2,4. And I'm not sure in which format the solution code is expected. :(
The rule set is quite funny and I really enjoyed a lot from the beginning part.

Modified: Thanks to @Playmaker6174, I read the rulesets over and over again and finally figure out what "Normal 6*6 Sudoku rules apply" means. I should also fill numbers into the shaded cells. Very nice puzzle! Enjoyed a lot.

Wow, just wow! Such an amazing puzzle

Awesome puzzle! I'm amazed that it exists and solves sooo cleanly

on 17. December 2025, 00:16 by ElenaMonteille
Wow! This is the first puzzle I met in such a brilliant rule set. And it's gonna be my favourate rule set in the next 10 years. Thank you so much for this perfect puzzle! I'm looking forward to more!

It took me some minutes to get my mind straight with the rules. At first I thought 0-8 are all valid fill-in's as in minesweeper. I then read the rules again -- "Normal 6x6 Sudoku rules apply", well, I had to explicitely unfold the definition of "Normal 6x6 Sudoku rules" in my head, and then I finally understood it correctly.

Absolutely brillant and creative puzzle, very fun to solve, thank you so much for sharing!

@Martina This is not like a fog puzzle where there is some action to reveal more of the puzzle.

If you do decide to shade a cell as "cleared", then it's an assertion that the cell's value indicates the number of surrounding mines. Quite a strong assertion... perhaps helpful to think about which cells could/could not be cleared.

on 16. December 2025, 19:25 by Exigus
Amazing that it works. Very cool adaptation, thanks!

on 16. December 2025, 19:20 by dzamie
That was really cool! It took me a bit to figure out what was going on - my Minesweeper experience kept reading the blank cleared cell as a 0 (rather than an unknown 1-6), which confused me for a while.
I'd love to see more of this mixture :D

on 16. December 2025, 19:17 by Wiggel
This is by far the best adaptation of minesweeper I have ever seen, in any medium. Brilliant puzzle, it was a joy to solve.

Cute little puzzle, great idea well executed!

Another miracle-adjacent sudoku from Juggler. Incredible. It's a real skill to make easy puzzles that feel this satisfying.

on 16. December 2025, 18:47 by Martina
What do I have to do to clear the cells?

on 16. December 2025, 16:26 by Playmaker6174
Neat setting for a 6x6, I enjoyed the solve overall. Thank you both :)

on 16. December 2025, 13:31 by vidarino
Very neat! Quite miraculous that it solves uniquely with so few rules. Thanks!
