Day 11: The difficult ones

(Published on 11. December 2025, 06:00 by SharpFox)

Today I have something really special for you: three tougher Sudoku puzzles. The first two are a little more difficult and are necessary to solve the third and last one, which contains a new type of rule. The first two can be solved quite easily using the same trick, but without this trick it becomes tedious. Good luck!

Rules:
  • Normal 4×4 Sudoku rules apply.
  • Digits strictly increase along the thermometers.
  • The pink renban line contains a set of consecutive digits in any order.

  • The pink renban line contains a set of consecutive digits in any order.
  • The blue diagonal contains the numbers 1-4 exactly once.
  • Kropki dots: A white dot connects consecutive digits and a black dot connects numbers where one is double the other.

Rules:
  • Normal 4×4 Sudoku rules apply.
  • The cages contain the same digits as the Sudoku with the corresponding number. For example, row 3 column 2 contains the number in row 3 column 2 of the first Sudoku puzzle.
  • The yellow lines are the opposite of Renban lines, which is why they are also called Nabner lines. They only contain different numbers, none of which are adjacent to each other.
Have fun with this little adventure!

Solution code: Row 1 of the third Sudoku (4 digits)

It's interesting how you can see me figure out the rule of the first two by the times they took:
9:09, 3:38, and 0:55. Once I knew the rule the second flew by and the last was almost instant (at least by my standards lol)

For once i had an actual insight into solving the first puzzle. Rather than trying brute force. Used it for the second as you hinted plus had fun coloring. :)

Wow, I never noticed that "nabner" was "renban" backwards, although it's so obvious. XD
Thanks for that and for these wonderful puzzles. They were really fun!
