  • Chaos:
  • Divide the 6x6 grid into six orthogonally connected regions each consisting of six cells.
  • Doppelganger:
  • Fill every cell of the 6x6 grid so that each row, column and region contains a 0 and five different digits from 1-6.
  • Every digit 1-6 is missing from exactly one row, one column, and one region.
  • For each 0, the digits missing in its row, column and region must be three different digits.
  • Space outside the grid can be used to track missing digits, but is not required for completion.
  • Cages:
  • All cells of a cage are in the same region, and must sum to the digit that is missing from its region.

Oof, that was tough. Wound up guessing a bit towards the end in order to eliminate a few places the 0s could be, so I figure I've still got stuff to learn about doppelganger and/or chaos construction.

Neat ruleset!

Thanks for solving! I think I know exactly which step you're referring to, and it's probably the hardest in the solve. Good job figuring it out, but here's a hint for anyone else stuck here:

The missing digits from a few rows and columns can be placed, some of which belong to unplaced 0s. This will determine which region the remaining 0s belong to.
