It's True, Unless It Isn't

(Published on 23. November 2025, 17:47 by gdc)

An easy(ish) puzzle with Jay Dyer's "shenanigans" rule. Thanks ChinStrap for testing it on stream. Hope you enjoy!

Normal 6x6 sudoku rules apply.
Shenanigans: One of the digits 1-6 (to be deduced) is the "shenanigans" digit.
Cages: Digits in a cage sum to the total in the top-left if and only if they don't contain any shenanigans digits. Digits may repeat in a cage.

Wonderful!

the cage is incorrect if and only if the shenanigans is in it (shenanigans can't be in a valid cage).

A lovely Sudoku tribute to Liar's paradox.

Really nice! It was quite tricky to get started, requiring both some interesting logic and a non-obvious sudoku observation or two, but once. you clear that hurdle, it really flowed.

I'd call this 2 stars. It's small and short, but you do have to think a bit about what would happen by placing the shenanigans digit in a few particular cells in ways that might not be immediately obvious.

o.O is this really a 1 star ??? aside from the 2x 4 and 10 having a clearly shinanigan i have no idea how to start this thanks to that rule makeing all the hints from the cages seem worthless
