This is the second puzzle in the kropki madness series, exploring further the difference kropki toroidal ruleset, It's significantly harder than the first one, particularly the breakin, but don't get discouraged !

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

  • The first and last cells of each row and column are considered orthogonally connected.
  • Digits loop around : 9 and 1 are considered consecutive.
  • Pairs of orthogonally connected cells that are in different boxes contain consecutive digits.
  • If two digits are separated by a black dot, one is double the other.
  • The four gray regions contain the same digits with the same placement.
  • Digits along the blue diagonal do not repeat.

Solution code: row 2 from left to right

Hmm, I think the ruleset does imply disjoint centers, because the grid is toroidal, and because of the hint in the hidden comments with repeating pairs. Perhaps there is a way to set it without disjoint centers, but both puzzle so far have had it, so maybe I'm just jumping to conclusions

I think you nailed it in your comments. The difficulty in setting this puzzle was to find a configuration that didn't allow for a shortcut to "The thing". A remark though, the ruleset doesn't necessarily imply disjoint center box cells. Thank you for solving !
