Wiggly Sums-X Folded Torus Chaos Deconstruction

gdc and Scojo wanted more Mad Fold In—a ruleset by Gnubeutel—so I made two Chaos puzzles of varying difficulty. This one is harder than the jolly green giant, and if folded regions weren't enough, I made it toroidal. However, I like the logic so much that I might make even more folded Chaos, hope you enjoy it too!

  • Chaos Deconstruction:
  • Fill some cells with a digit from 1-9 so there are no repeats in a row, column, or region. There are nine regions of nine orthogonally connected cells, which must be deduced by the solver.
  • The grid is toroidal, so opposite sides of the grid are considered orthogonally adjacent. (e.g. R1C4 is adjacent to R11C4)
  • Regions cannot pass through the thick black walls.
  • Mad Fold-in:
  • If the dashed red lines are 'folded' so that they meet, and columns 4-9 disappear, ALL clues, region borders, and nine-cell regions must be valid in the resulting 6x11 grid.
  • If there is a border in the folded grid on the red dashed lines, there must be a border in the corresponding position of the unfolded grid, and vice versa.
  • Wiggly Sums-X: example
  • Starting at each clued cell, imagine a path that travels orthogonally for X cells, (including the clued cell) where X is the last digit on the path.
  • The path must turn at least once, but all turns must be in the general direction that the clue is pointing. (e.g. If a clue points southeast, its path only travels orthogonally southward or eastward, but never north or west.)
  • Paths may overlap.
  • All cells along the path (including the clue cell and the cell with X) are in the same region, and sum to the indicated total.
    • A question mark (?) represents any digit 0-9, but cannot be a leading 0.
    • A question mark with a star (?*) represents any positive number.
    • Question marks don't necessarily represent the same number in the folded and unfolded grids.

What does "all 9 cell regions must be valid in the 6x11 grid" mean?

Hi, It means that when the grid is folded, the region borders will form 9-cell regions, each containing the digits 1-9. The number of regions in the folded grid is to be determined, but there are no incomplete regions (i.e. less than 9 cells)
