jolly green giant, his arms folded

gdc and Scojo wanted more Mad Fold In—a ruleset by Gnubeutel—so I made two Chaos puzzles of varying difficulty. This one is "easier" than the Chaos Deconstruction, but the folded regions can be a challenge in and of themselves. However, I like the logic so much I might make even more folded Chaos, hope you enjoy it too!

  • Mad Fold-in:
  • If the columns between the dashed red lines are removed, all clues must remain valid in the resulting 4x9 grid.
  • Chaos:
  • Divide the grid into nine orthogonally connected regions, and fill each cell with a digit 1-9 so there are no repeats in any row or column.
  • Region borders must be drawn so that the folded grid is divided into four orthogonally connected regions, each containing the digits 1-9.
  • If there is a border in the folded grid on the red dashed lines, there must be a border in the corresponding positions of the unfolded grid, and vice versa.
  • Region Building:
  • In a cage, one of the digits is equal to the number of different regions which have at least one cell inside the cage.
  • Two green circles connected by a line are in the same region.
  • White dots separate two digits that are in different regions.
  • Killer: Digits in a cage do not repeat, and must sum to the indicated total, if given.
  • Split Peas: Digits between two circles sum to a two-digit number, where the 'tens' digit is in one circle and the 'ones' digit is in the other. Lines do not branch; there is one place where two separate lines cross. (r34c34)
  • Kropki: Digits separated by a white dot are consecutive. Note: the half-dots on the fold lines only apply to the folded grid.

9x9 version

Well constructed. Gets a bit easier halfway through. A 4x9 affords few crazy shapes for regions. Enjoyed that. Thanks
