3 Long Tesseract

(Published on 18. October 2025, 21:46 by Wiggel)

This is the sixth puzzle in my '3 Series'.

After some experimentation with 4 dimensional sudokus, I found this little snack. I think it serves as an easy introduction to the ruleset. It looks more difficult than it actually is. Those who are used to working with 2d representations of 4d boards, will have a very easy time with this one. Enjoy.

Rules:

Normal sudoku rules do NOT apply.
Tesseract Sudoku: Place the digits from 1 to 3 once each, in every row and column of a box. Cells that appear in the same position of two boxes, and also share a row or a column in the large grid, may not contain the same digit.

Solution code: Rows 1 and 2 in Box 2 (left to right, 6 digits total)

All the difficulty in this sudoku is in understanding the rules :P
I'm not quite sure how this could be iterated on with just 1-3, so I assume that further tesseracts will either have the player determine which 3 digits are used and/or let the digit set be different per box.

Not heard of this rule and I was dreading this from the wording but it was actually a very simple 5 minute puzzle. Not sure I want to try a harder one though :)
