X + X²

(Published on 14. October 2025, 01:25 by RockyRoer)

The Rules:

  1. [Sudoku] Normal sudoku rules apply -- fill every row, column, and 3x3 box with the digits from 1-9 once each.
  2. [Lines] Each line must be split into two parts such that the digit(s) on one side of the line must sum to x and the digits on the other side of the line must sum to x². Digits may repeat on lines if sudoku allows.
    • Example: A line might be able to be 4-1348, or 238971 because 4² = 1 + 3 + 4 + 8 or (2+3)² = (8+9+7+1).

The Puzzle:

Try it on Sven's Sudokupad

Solution code: The first six digits of column 3 from top to bottom

Very interesting math rule and very smooth after the break-in. The lines are perfectly placed in a way which do not need crazy calculations.
