Happy Accident

(Published on 7. October 2025, 10:40 by oskode)

I was inspired by ChinStrap's recent puzzle Moving On Up to set my own puzzle featuring Numbered Rooms interacting with a constraint. The result is this! It turned out to be more of a proof of concept, but I still think it has a surprisingly smooth solve and wanted to share it.

Rules:

  • Sudoku: Fill all rows, columns and marked 3x3 regions in the central 9x9 grid with the digits 1-9 without any repeats.
  • Numbered Rooms: A digit X on the margin of the 9x9 grid indicate that the Nth cell in in the corresponding row or column must contain the digit X, where N is the first digit seen in that row or column.
  • Region Sum Line: Region borders (including the edges of the 9x9 grid) divide the blue line into segments. The digits on each segment sum to the same total.

Ratings and comments are very much appreciated. Thank you for playing!

Solution code: The digits in column 6 in the central 9x9 grid, from top to bottom
