Sudoku Variants Series (444) - Easy as 369

(Published on 3. October 2025, 06:00 by Richard)

For this Sudoku Variants Project I have planned to publish a unique Sudoku variant every week.
I will see how long it takes before I am running out of ideas.

Easy as 369
Apply classic sudoku rules.
Clues outside the grid indicate which digit of the set {3,6,9} is seen first in the respective row or column.

Inspiration for this type comes from goodcity.

Solve online in Sudokupad.

Solution code: Row 6.

Surprisingly complex for such a simple constraint! Wound up doing some coloring towards the end, to make sure I wasn't missing something.

Very nice puzzle ! I am really happy to see my name in this series since it is a huge source of inspiration for me. But I have to say that this variant was created by damasosos92 and the credit should go to him.

@goodcity: Thanks for solving and your comment. I always refer to a puzzle that I solved myself, in this case it was yours. If players click on the link to your puzzle, they find the info where your inspiration comes from. For me it is sometimes impossible to trace back to the ultimate source, since puzzles sometimes change names or a puzzle was published elsewhere at a digital place I don't know of or that I don't visit. (I don't have an account at discord servers, to mention something.) So: I keep it simple and mention my inspiration source, being aware this is not always the inventor of the type. Hopefully that makes it clear. :)
