Colours in the (k)night XVI

(Published on 27. October 2025, 21:22 by Villse)

Next installment in my “Colours in the (k)night” series. I hope you enjoy it :)

Links to the previous parts of the series are given after the rules.

Rules:

Normal Sudoku rules apply. Place the digits 1–9 once in every row, column, and 3×3 box.

Anti-Knight: Cells a knight’s move apart in chess cannot contain the same digit.

XV: Cells separated by a V sum to 5; cells separated by an X sum to 10. Not all Vs and Xs are necessarily given.

Positive diagonal: Digits along the positive diagonal cannot repeat.

Magic square: Somewhere in the grid lies a 3×3 magic square, which contains all digits from 1 to 9 exactly once and in which every row, column, and diagonal adds to the same total. It’s up to the solver to determine the location of the magic square.

Another excellent addition to the series. And clever stuff to feature the magic square!

Oh, neat. I was wondering how to disambiguate between the 5 and a color that hadn't appeared in an X yet. Turns out, I'd forgotten the magic square rule.

Very nice. The magic square clue was a lot of fun to figure out.

Great one, but I think it would not be a spoiler to state that the magic square is not neccesarily aligned with a box. Took me ages to figure that out ... once I reread the rules for the umpteenth time it somehow occured to me ...

Very cool how just the magic square resolves all the digits.
