Sudoku Variants Series (441) - Hot Potato

(Published on 12. September 2025, 06:00 by Richard)

For this Sudoku Variants Project I have planned to publish a unique Sudoku variant every week.
I will see how long it takes before I am running out of ideas.

Hot Potato
Apply classic sudoku rules.
Digits in cages must not be repeated and sum to the cage total (if given) in the top left corner. Cages that touch each other horizontally or vertically have to share at least one common digit.

Inspiration for this type comes from sujoyku.

It's neat to see where the break-in clearly must be, but still have to work to find it a bit.
There was a bit at the end where I was trying to disambiguate between a pair of 4/6 pairs, and wound up going through each cage to see which ones I had left out of the number-sharing rule. Very nice!
