Octoquadri: Clock Faces Renban
(Published on 6. August 2025, 22:10 by Crusader175)
My first attempt at setting Octoquadri, a puzzle type invented by
AnalyticalNinja, along with a variant that I've been fascinated with recently, Clock Faces. Hope you enjoy solving the puzzle!
Rules:
Octoquadri: Fill the grid with 8 of the digits 1-9, such that each digits appears exactly twice, and no digit repeats in a row, column, or 2x2 box.
Clock Faces: Four digits around a clock faces circle are placed in an increasing order starting from one of the four cells and going clockwise (white circle) or going anticlockwise (black circle). All clock faces circle are given (negative constraint).
Renban: Digits on a purple line form a set of consecutive, non-repeating digits in any order.
Ratio Pairs: Digits separated by a black dot have a 1:2 ratio. Not all dots are given.

Missed that bit about anti-clockwise and it totally threw me off for a bit. Neat puzzle!

Very simple, but very elegant. I'd not seen this version of "clock faces" before, but the negative constraint was very powerful.
Reply: Thank you MattYDdraig! I really enjoyed exploring the variant recently.
