Out for the Count (Lockout Lines Quad)

(Published on 12. August 2025, 02:02 by tallcat)

Some four years ago, Riffclown messaged me with the beginnings of an idea for a new constraint that ultimately turned into 'Lockout lines' (the original puzzles can be found here). Although they are the only constraint that I have had a hand in, I realize now that I have not set much with them. The fourth anniversary seemed an appropriate time to combine them with quads! Happy solving!

Normal Sudoku Rules apply.

Lockout Lines: Digits on blue lines cannot be between or equal to digits in the diamonds at ends of the line. Digits in endpoint diamonds must differ by at least 4. A diamond terminates a line segment.

Quadruples: Digits in white circles must be present at least once in the cells the clue touches.

Solution code: Row 6 (left to right), 9 digits, no spaces.

Lovely use of the lockout line mechanic and working out around that opening was somewhat delightful :)
