Mewtated DNA

(Published on 29. July 2025, 02:16 by Macavitycode)

While studying DNA samples, Mew accidentally spilt dangerous killer cells from sample 512 into the solution, causing some coagulation. Help Mew untangle this mess!

  • Normal Sudoku rules apply.
  • Green German whispers line: Consecutive digits on the line must differ by a minimum of 5.
  • Killer Cages: Digits in killer cages are non repeating, and sum to the number in the top left corner of the cage. Additionally, each orthogonally adjacent pair of digits in killer cage must sum to either 5 or 12.

This is my first attempt at making a variant sudoku puzzle, any feedback is appreciated.

Fantastic first effort. Great symmetrical pattern.
I like simple rule sets and simple solution codes.
I agree with other comments that it was a very easy puzzle, but Im giving 5 stars for “beauty.” I think the current 86% is unfair to the design, but LM, like Norway, has trolls.
To me “consecutive” means the numbers differ by 1, while “adjacent” better describes cells next to each other on a line.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. I have tried to keep them in mind for my next puzzle, and work on improving the break in. Its still not difficult but I think its a little more fun.

Nice puzzle! For your next puzzle, leave some wiggle room, so it is less forced. Make us think, that's why we're here. :)
A good way to improve a puzzle is to ask yourself: What can I remove while still keeping a unique, solvable puzzle?

I really enjoyed this puzzle - all I would say is that there are few, if any, real deductions to be made. All of the info you need is very much given to you from the start, making for a very quick and easy solve. However, that is definitely not a bad thing!

Enjoyed! There was a LOT of information to start with. I suspect fewer clues would be even more satisfying.

Fun puzzle. There was a nice balance of using the variant rules and normal sudoku to solve.
