Pressure Pointer

(Published on 25. July 2025, 06:53 by cheeseorsteve)

Normal sudoku rules apply.

Digits along a purple line must be consecutive. Adjacent digits along a green line must differ by at least 5. Digits along a thermometer must increase from the bulb to the tip.

You can play this puzzle in Sudokupad.app here:

https://sudokupad.app/vu54azttv0

This is the second puzzle I have ever created. Any feedback you can provide is greatly appreciated. I have set the difficulty to 3-stars (down from 4) based on initial feedback. If others continue to feel I've overestimated the difficulty, I will drop it further. If you need a hint for the break-in, I have provided one below.

Break-in spoiler: What row must the five appear in box three to allow the German Whisper line to be fillable? Once you have that, pencil mark the remaining fives around the edge of the puzzle. Then, concentrate on the extreme values of the five-cell renban lines.

Solution code: Digits in Row 9 left to right.

This was very fun puzzle where the logic isn't too complicated, but it certainly helps if you're familiar with whispers and renban rules.

For me this was faster than most 2* puzzles and the logic in itself was pretty straight forward so even 3* felt high, though I get that it could be that for someone less familiar with the rules.

Good fun, flowed beautifully, and extremely approachable.

Very nice setting. Very professional execution. This is a textbook example of a what good 3* setting should look like. Well done, 47!

Nice puzzle, very impressive for someone's second puzzle ever. About 2.5 star difficulty. Just a little more than a 2 but not really a 3.

Very elegant!

absolutely, this is a "for experts only" puzzle. a "beginner" will have NO CHANCE at all.

at the same time, most experts will find this quite easy.

but this is an ASTONISHING puzzle ... and if you don't believe me, send it off to someone like simon at ctc and watch him fall off his chair.

Lowered the difficulty from 4-star to 3-star per feedback in the comments.

Very fun puzzle. Used coloring at the end for high & low digits. Personally would say closer 3* rather than 4 though. Break in and end were easier than the middle.

Very nice puzzle. Smooth all the way. But certainly not 4* difficulty. I would put it at 2*.

Nice puzzle. Not too hard, I looked at the thermo to start with without looking at your spoiler, and it worked.
