This is our first Sudoku puzzle we've set! This was set by my dad and I as a father/son project. We have been watching Cracking the Cryptic for a while and were struck with some inspiration when thinking about the classic board game Battleship. We are new to the community so any advice is much appreciated! Thank you to sanabas on Discord for playtesting.
Normal Sudoku rules apply.
Cannons: Grey squares are cannons. Each cannon "fires" at each other cannon in its row and column. Cannon shots can go through other cannons, and cannon shots can intersect. The distance between cannons determines the difference in their numerical values. (i.e. If a cannon square is 2, and the distance to another cannon square is 4 squares, the second cannon square must be 6.)
Region Sum Lines: For each blue line, digits on the line have an equal sum (N) within each box it passes through.
Cages: The values within a cage must sum to the given total of the cage. Not all cage totals are given.
Example of how cannons work:
Enjoy!
Solution code: Digits in C9, top to bottom.

Cool story about setting with your dad. I've tried to set with my dad before but it hasn't quite worked out :( Maybe one day with my son.

The cages were meant to look like the ships from Battleship!

Nice idea. Smooth solving path. Just no need for the cages without totals.

Thanks for the fun, easy puzzle.
One suggestion: You can change the reference to SudokuPad into a clickable link by putting something like this in the description:
