Killers Everywhere

by EPH (ephsudoku@yahoo.com)

Standard sudoku rules apply: each row, column, and 3x3 box must contain all the digits from 1 to 9.

Killer cages: digits in a cage must not repeat and must sum to the value in the top left corner of the cage.

Little killer: a number outside the grid gives the sum of the digits along the diagonal indicated by the arrow beside the number.

Great puzzle. The break in was beautiful and not too difficult. Got very stuck in the middle of the puzzle though and took me a while to spot the weak cell. Once I found that it came together quickly though.

I rated this 3/5 difficulty.

Great puzzle with several interesting & fun ideas!

I really enjoyed this solve, and found it to be overall fairly approachable. I think this difficulty is on the easier side of 3* - and every step was totally fair throughout the solve. The logic wasn't complex, but it was tricky to spot how the geometries restricted individual cells at times.

I think my favorite aspect of the solve was the break-in and how the two different killer clue types worked together to create interesting geometric restrictions. The different geometries had some interesting consequences & led to a very interesting solve experience. I also really liked how the killer sums were all straightforward/"simple" - meaning I could focus on "broader" ideas instead of trying to figure out the various combinations of valid digits for each given sum. The little killer clues really helped with that aspect of the solve.

I found that many of the deductions took me longer to spot because I focused too much on coloring (which really wasn't necessary IMO) and didn't spend enough time just scanning for classic sudoku restrictions. But overall, my entire solve went smoothly and everything came together very nicely.

Thanks for sharing!
