How Many Primes Fit In A Box?

(Published on 22. June 2025, 05:00 by Will Power)

Come to think of it, how many odd numbers can be in a prime cage? Think about both of these before you start. Normal Sudoku rules apply. ARROWS- Numbers on arrows sum to the number in the arrow's pill. Pills are read from left to right or top to bottom. KILLER CAGES- Numbers in all cages each sum to prime numbers that must be determined by the solver. KROPKI PAIRS- Numbers with a black dot between them are in a ratio of 2:1. Not all possible dots are shown. Cells with the number 1 and the number 9 are NEVER orthogonally adjacent (share an edge) in the whole puzzle.

Great one! However -for me at least- the puzzle had 2 possible satisfying solutions. With 24 entries to go, i was able to choose either without breaking the rules. The solution link above was for the one approved by the solution code.
I saved a screenshot from where a path could be chosen. Link for the unapproved path is:

@atheeromar Thanks so much for playing and commenting. I appreciate when people find alternate solutions and challenge my logic. Unfortunately, the top left cage sums to 21 in your alternate solution, and 21 is not prime. Otherwise, you were extremely close to being correct. As of now, I continue to believe my solution is unique. Peace to you. -Will Power

@Will Power thank you for taking time in verfing my "challenge". Next time I will try to be more careful before claiming two solutions. What I´m wondering about is how you managed to verify the solution by just using the solution link. Is there a way to extract the solution?

Strange thing: the final solution seems to have an pair of adjacent cells with a 1 and a 9.
I had overlooked this rule and ended up with a deadly pattern involving six cells in the first 3 columns.
Then I checked the rules again and saw the 1-9 rule.
Strange.

@yusuf17 Please don't overlook any rules. The puzzles we create have a unique solution when ALL of the rules are obeyed. I cannot control the output of your work when you do not take all rules into account. Peace to you. -Will Power

FIRST

very intricate, but still pretty easy, because each arrow or cage can be solved IN ISOLATION, until you are close to the end.

hint: two secrets plus the answer = an important result.
