A Different Window

(Published on 18. June 2025, 21:04 by ul-Rhymm)

The geometry of this puzzle popped into my head the other night. Here are two versions: one easier (probably 2/5 stars) and one slightly harder (3/5) stars. The harder version is pictured—the only difference being some cage values. They have many similar elements, though the harder version requires a few more subtle deductions. Either way, have fun!

Standard sudoku: in each row, column, and 3x3 region, each digit 1-9 appears exactly once.

Anti-Knight: cells a chess-knight's move apart cannot contain the same digit.

Killer: in cages, digits do not repeat and sum to the value in the top left corner.

Digits in shaded squares must be even.

Easier Version

Harder Version

Solution code: Row 6 Colum 2, Row 6 Column 3, Row 6 Column 4, in that order, expressed as a 3-digit number. These three cells are identical for both puzzles.

1* for the easier one
2.x* for the harder one
Really interesting to see the difference the cage values make

(for the easier one)
Took a bit to figure out where to start, but once I picked up on the pattern, it was pretty reliable to continue through until the end. I'll definitely give the harder version a shot in a bit.
