Indextra (with ChinStrap)

(Published on 23. May 2025, 18:59 by sujoyku)

ChinStrap and I have experimented with bigger Index Lines where a position can consist of more than one cell. Here the indexing applies to the sum values of the segments. For details see rules below.
We like to thank mellowrobinson, NEWS, DubiousMobius, Sebond and Nell Gwyn for testing. As always, your feedback in the comments is much appreciated. We wish you joyful solving!

- Normal sudoku rules apply, i.e. each row, column, and 3x3 region has to contain the digits from 1 to 9 once each.

- Index Sum Lines: Dots separate turquoise lines into segments which are enumerated with white labels at the center of the line. For each line, the sums of these segments must form a valid Index Line, i.e. the sum value of the Nth segment along the line (starting from the segment with the diamond) indicates the position along the line where a sum value of N appears. For example, if the 3rd segment sums to 6, then the 6th segment must sum to 3.

Here you can solve the puzzle online:

Tricky ruleset for me to wrap my head around initially and figure out the break in. But then a lot of fun logic unwound from there.

Es dauerte eine Weile, bis ich den Einstieg fand, obwohl eigentlich klar war, wo ich suchen musste. Was für ein schönes Versteck! Tolle Idee, perfekt präsentiert. Habt vielen Dank dafür, alle beide.

Very cool puzzle. I think this was my first with this constraint and it made for some very interesting and satisfying logic.
