Mictēcacihuātl (Castle Wall Delta + Directed U-Bahn)

Mictēcacihuātl

This is the "B-Side" of a pair of puzzles:
A-Side: Mictlāntēcutli (Castle Wall + U-Bahn).
B-Side: Mictēcacihuātl (Castle Wall Delta + Directed U-Bahn).
I hope you enjoy them!

Rules:
  • Directed U-Bahn: draw a directed loop network through the centers of some (non-clue) cells, which may branch or turn, but may not have any dead ends. More precisely, every branch and cross in the grid is a sink or source (to be determined). All loop segments must be directed, connecting a source to a sink. A digit outside the grid indicates how many times the corresponding line shape (i.e. a cross, branch, straight line, or turn) appears in the corresponding row or column, irrespective of the line shape's rotation.
  • Castle-Wall Delta: clues inside the grid count the number of loop network steps made towards the clue cell minus the number of loop network steps made away from the clue cell in all indicated directions combined.

Solution code: The number of loop segments extending down from each row (except the last). (For the practice puzzle, the solution code would be 2232.)

This ruleset is really weird at first sight (half an hour for the example), but once I understood them, the logic flow is really fantastic (although still pretty hard). Thanks for creating this!

Tough one! I loved the castle wall delta variant here. Regarding the solve path, I spotted the opener pretty quickly but then it was a slow process, chipping away at disparate parts of the grid, for a finish that, perhaps, was worth all the toil. Very consistent, but the endgame is truly all-time, a great reward for sticking with it. Thank you!!

At first I thought, what kind of strange rules are these? It's all the more amazing how well it worked. What a great idea!

Fantastic puzzle!

great to see yet another one in the cwd family, this one maybe doesn't really have the same vibes, but the sources/sinks are super cool in it's own terms. also remarkable to see an u-bahn with so many connectivity deductions, esp given there is no connectivity in the rules :o)))

Two very clever puzzles!

Great pair of puzzles! Thanks :)

(Answer check did not work for me)

Reply: Thank you! Yeah, I'm not quite sure what's causing answer check issues. It's worked for some solvers and hasn't worked for others.

Such a cool twist on the U-bahn ruleset. I was not expecting my intuition with sources and sinks to work so well in the beginning!
