Strict Flow

(Published on 12. May 2025, 21:18 by APigthatflys)

Not my first puzzle, but the first one I'm publishing. The setter did not support Kropki and XV clues, thus the cages.

Normal Sudoku rules apply and all clues are standard.

Kropki dots: Black dots separate digits in a 1:2 ratio. White dots separate consecutive digits. ALL possible dots are given.

XV: Digits separated by a V sum to 5. Digits separated by a X sum to 10. ALL possible X's are given. ALL but 2 possible V's are given, replaced by Killer Cages.

Killer Cages: Digits in a cage sum to the number at the top left of the cage, and digits do not repeat in cages.

Fog of War: The grid is covered in fog. Entering correct digits will clear the area around it. No guessing is required.

Solve on Sudokupad

Solution code: Solution Code given at the end of the puzzle.

Deserves a (much) higher rating. Easy but enjoyable. I wonder if people missed the negative constraint rule, which is only needed for the final 'deadly pattern', so mistakenly thought it was a puzzle with two solutions...

Very easy, but still pleasant to go through. The negative constraint really isn't necessary for the XV, and almost isn't necessary for the kropki.
Recently got stumped on a few puzzles here, so this was a nice change of pace.

Great puzzle, quick and fun.

I wound up with a deadly pattern of 3s and 6s at the end of the puzzle in R2 and R3 - odd! I turned on conflict checker and there seemed to be no problem, SudokuPad didn't accept one configuration but did for the other.

Edit: I missed the negative constraint on V's so there is in fact one unique solution. Clever!
