I'm Blue

(Published on 12. May 2025, 15:55 by sujoyku)

This puzzle is my entry for Scojo’s “represent your colour prompt” (which is referring to the colour of our discord names). So let’s go, Team Blue! :)
I like to thank all testers and wish you joyful solving!

Here you can watch how Mark of Cracking the Cryptic solves the puzzle.

- Normal sudoku rules apply, i.e. each row, column, and 3x3 region has to contain the digits from 1 to 9 once each.

- Region Sum Lines: Box borders divide the blue lines into segments with the same sum. (Different lines may have different sums.)

Here you can solve the puzzle online:

Solve on Sudokupad

Solution code: Column 9 from top to bottom (9 digits in total)

is this broken for anyone else? there are absolutely no lines when i open up the puzzle.

**
Hey morgannamodeaura, that is strange. For me the link is still working fine. Is anybody else having the same problem?

I tried to speedrun the ctc solve. I was beat by far. One step around half was very tricky for me. Therefore 3.5* for me. The construction is brilliant. I loved every minute thx. Now I watch mark :-)

Thank you for your comment, wuc! I am glad that you enjoyed the puzzle.

Nice puzzle, done it in 57min. Find it kinda hard to figure out a real patern, I'm not sure it did it the intended way but it was still satisfaying

**
Thank you for your comment, LNOMISL! I am glad that you found the puzzle to be satisfying. If you like to discuss some of the steps of my intended solve path, feel free to leave a hidden comment.

This puzzle flows beautifully and has incredible symmetry! It feels like a miracle that everything resolves as smoothly and as fairly as it does!

**
Thank you for your comment, SamuPiano! I am glad you enjoyed the puzzle's flow. The setting also came together incredibly smoothly. I had the break-in in mind before putting things into the grid and only had to work a bit more to get the last line (you can probably guess which) right. It is cool that this also reflects in the solving experience somehow.

Wow if you look in the wrong place this gives up nothing, but when you look in the right place it all starts to crumble bit by bit. Amazing that resolves with no additional dot or given or inequality. Delightful.

**
Thank you for your comment, damo_89! I am glad that you enjoyed the puzzle. I think it is not even that hard (I had put it at 2/5 initially), but as you say, it is about asking the right questions.
Kind regards, sujoyku

Delightful. I was making deductions just for the sake of following a thread that felt clever, which often seemed to have nothing to do with the solve path, and every one ended up mattering to how it all flows together. Thanks a bunch for this!

You are much welcome, Spider, thank you for your comment! It is great to hear you had a delightful solve.

It flows super nicely and uses every part in slightly surprising but very fair ways. Loved it!
