Unique Under the Fog 4.0

(Published on 12. May 2025, 09:06 by Visumation)

Rules:

Normal sudoku rules apply.

Neighbouring digits on an orange Dutch Whisper line must have a difference of at least 4. (DW)

Neighbouring digits on a green German Whisper must have a difference of at least 5. (GW)

Along purple zipper lines, pairs of digits equidistant from the center of the line have the same sum. On odd-length zipper lines, this sum is the value of the digit in the central position. (Z)

Digits in a cage may not repeat and must sum to the clue in the top left of that cage (if given).

Digits on an arrow sum to the digit in that arrows circle.

Each constraint type may contain no repeated digits anywhere in this puzzle. Eg. If one renban line contains a 5, then no other renban line may contain a 5.

Additionally the grid is partially covered in fog. Placing a correct digit may clear fog in somewhere in the grid.

Wow! Once I unlocked the break-in, it was a feast of twists and turns. Very fun! But proved a bit harder than 3 stars over here.

Great puzzle and amazing construction.
The break-in(s) was beautiful and I agree it should be more than 3*, maybe 3.5*.

I haven't tried all your puzzles yet, but this is one of my favourites

Thanks.

Blimey. That was one hell of a challenge. The way all the different constraints interacted was just magical. Trying to work it out is hard enough, but discovering these interactions and making a puzzle is something else. Well done and thank you for setting

Thank you very much for all your kind words. Really appreciated. Happy you enjoyed the puzzle. Try the other ones in the series if you haven’t. They are not as hard as this…;) /vis

Very nice! But 3 stars? Can we give it one more? :)

Yeah. Maybe. You guys be the judge. The break-in is probably 4. Thanks. /vis

I don't normally attempt 3* puzzles, but I have solved this whole series and would gladly solve 100 more. This combination of constraints is extremely satisfying. Please keep them coming!!! :)

Waw, this was very hard for me (I usually go for 1/2*) but it was so worth the time. Hardest fog I've done but probably most satisfying one too, thank you so much for submitting !

Great. Happy you stuck with it. Well done. /vis

Very nice. Maybe I missed a key deduction. The first digits came up not that easy.

They are not that easy. You probably took the intended path. Thanks for solving. /vis

and let us express our appreciation for putting in the extra effort to identify the lines with letters.

Thanks. Chinstrap is the person to thank for that though.

For me it was very tricky to get started (it’s so easy to overlook something important), but surely this is one of the best FoW I ever solved! Thank you very much for creating and sharing this masterpiece.

Thank you very much for your kind comment.
Weird the rating suddenly dropped from 100 to 93.
Guess someone else really hated it. Really glad you enjoyed it though. /vis
