Walking around town (Deconstruction)
(Published on 12. May 2025, 12:00 by Oripy)
The next step after setting a Chaos construction puzzle (here) was to set a Deconstruction puzzle as I also love this type of puzzles.
Rules:
- Contained within the grid are nine non-overlapping 3x3 square regions, which must be located. Each region contains the digits 1 to 9 once each, such that no digit repeats in any row or column. Cells outside regions do not contain digits.
- If a cell inside a region contains an arrow, its value is equal to the number of cells with digit visible in the arrow direction, including itself.
- Draw a non-intersecting loop through the centres of all cells without digits and define its direction of travel. The loop must leave a cell with an arrow on the side of the cell indicated by the arrow.
- Anti-Knight: Cells separated by a knight's move (as in chess) cannot contain the same digit as each other.
Example:
The puzzle:
The puzzle can be solved on SudokuPad or SudokuPad with arrows on the border
Solution code: Column 7 digits with X on loop cells.

Wow that was juicy !
I stared a long time at my boxes before remembering the antiknight part XD
Deconstruction and antiknight is quitesomething. I think for my 55mn solve that at least 2/3 were just hard sudokuing.
Really good puzzle overall!!

Very clean puzzle and an unusually nice use of anti-knight.

Fantastic puzzle! The placement of the boxes and finding the loop was really fun and challenging. The sudoku to finish the puzzle was not easy at all, even after I finally read that there was an anti-knight rule. Great setting, very impressive and original. Thank you
> Thank you for solving and the kind words!
