There's Sum-thing In The Shadows (with sujoyku)

(Published on 2. May 2025, 18:05 by ChinStrap)

Back again with another sujoyku collab, our first Yin Yang together. Thanks to all the testers, and we hope you enjoy!

Rules:

  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Yin Yang: Shade some cells. All shaded cells are orthogonally connected, and so are all unshaded cells. Every 2x2 contains both shaded and unshaded cells.
  • Yin Yang Split Lines: Yin Yang borders split lines into 2 or more segments with the same sum. (If 2 cells are adjacent along the line, they are in the same segment if and only if they have the same shading). Digits may not repeat within a segment. Every line contains both shaded and unshaded cells.
  • Segment Counters: A digit in a circle on a line indicates how many total segments that line has.

Below is an example image of how the Yin Yang Split Lines works.

All feedback (positive or critical) appreciated!

Solution code: Row 6 left to right (9 digits)

Combining YY with split lines seems to work very well - as this amazing puzzle proved! Thank you both for creating and sharing this gem. I love it.

Very nice. One slightly tricky step in the mid solve and then it all collapsed, 3* for me.
