Under Siege - NW Tower

(Published on 11. April 2025, 03:14 by Arlo Lipof)

A German fortress is being attacked from all sides by a ruthless enemy. Despite their limited resources, the archers defend their castle as well as they can. To survive the siege, they have four secret passages to sneak out of the fortress past the enemy's lines.

As you can see below, the puzzle Under Siege consists of four Sudokus, one for each tower of the fortress. These Sudokus are based on the same constraints, but are all independent from each other. You can click on the images to navigate between the towers:

Rules:

  • Sudoku. Normal Sudoku rules apply.
  • Arrows. Digits along an arrow must sum to the number in the attached circle or pill (read from left to right). Digits may repeat on an arrow if allowed by other rules.
  • German whispers. Any set of two adjacent cells along a green line must contain digits that differ by at least 5.
  • Between (the enemy's) lines. Digits along a golden line must be strictly between the digits in the circled ends of the line.

These Sudokus are all approachable. Have fun!

Lovely group of puzzles. I must have missed something on the NE corner as I found it significantly harder than the other three. Possibly what you replied to in DiMono's comment, but I didn't go back to check.

A: Many thanks, treb! If you mean the NW tower, that would indeed be my best guess.

This is an excellent series of four nice and quick puzzles. Of the four, this NW tower felt the hardest to crack (1.5 to 2*). Thanks for sharing.

A: Thank you very much, zeniko!
