Chaos construction: Divide the grid into orthogonally connected regions of exactly 7 cells each. Place the digits 1–7 exactly once in every row, column, and region.
Counting bulbs: Each of the seven given lines contains a hidden bulb (to be determined), which shows the number of distinct digits on that line. Every row, column, and region contains one bulb, and all bulbs have different digits.
Non-returning lines: Region borders divide each line into segments, no two of which lie in the same region (i.e. a line does not re-enter a region once it leaves it).
Notes: A bulb belongs to only one line, even if multiple lines pass through its cell. If a line passes diagonally between two cells of the same region and touches another region only at a corner, this point is not considered a division.
