Slitherlink Yin Yang

(Published on 22. March 2025, 00:28 by yttrio)

This puzzle is my second round entry for the pencil puzzle hybrid competition held on the Skunkworks Discord server. Estimated difficulty is between 3 and 4 stars.

Rules:
Slitherlink: Connect some pairs of orthogonally adjacent dots to form a single non-intersecting loop. Number clues represent the number of edges surrounding the clue (up to four) that are segments of the loop.

Yin Yang: Shade some cells such that all shaded cells are orthogonally connected, all unshaded cells are orthogonally connected, and no 2x2 area is fully shaded or fully unshaded. Cells with a black circle clue are shaded, and cells with a white circle clue are unshaded.

Inside the Slitherlink loop, cells must alternate between being shaded and unshaded. In other words, for every pair of orthogonally adjacent cells that are both inside the Slitherlink loop, one must be shaded and the other must be unshaded for Yin Yang. Cells outside the Slitherlink loop may have any shading.

Penpa+

Solution code: Column 5. Use S for shaded cells, U for unshaded cells, and a hyphen (-) for a Slitherlink loop segment between cells.
