A bit of a stretch

(Published on 15. March 2025, 11:00 by sujoyku)

This puzzle has been set for the Sudoku Twitch Train stream of TonberryJava. I like to thank Calvinball and ChinStrap for testing, and wish you joyful solving!

- Normal sudoku rules apply, i.e. each row, column and 3x3 region has to contain the digits from 1 to 9 once each.

- Killer cages: Digits in a cage sum to the clue in the top left.

- Little killers: Digits on a marked diagonal sum to the clue outside the grid. (If there is no conflict with other rules, digits on such a diagonal may repeat.)

- Arrows: Digits on an arrow sum to the digit in the circle from which the arrow emerges.

Here you can solve the puzzle online:

Thankfully, I have solved enough of these types of puzzles to spot the break-in quickly, but I do remember when I was new to variant sudoku and I found these impossible to solve. What an elegant piece of setting (as always). Thanks for sharing

You are much welcome, PinkNickels, thank you for commenting! I can see what you are pointing at. This is a classic case of "approachable if familiar with certain deductions". I am glad that you enjoyed the puzzle.

Thank you for the excellent puzzle. I am a Little Killers fan and enjoyed how they subtly determined the outcome.

You are much welcome, anyeyeball, thank you for your comment! I am glad you enjoyed the use of little killers in this one. My first inspiration was to combine the little killers with cages, then I added the arrows in the process.
