Damo Says It's A Smiley Face (Collab with PjotrV)

(Published on 16. March 2025, 00:59 by Scojo)

This is a collaboration between myself and PjotrV, which we set live on twitch with some help and suggestions from the chat!

Rules:
  • Normal sudoku rules apply: Place the digits 1-9 once each in every row, column, and 3x3 box.
  • Arrows: Digits along an arrow must sum to the digit in that arrow's circle.
  • Index Lines: Each blue line is an Index Line, i.e. the digit in the Nth cell along such a line (starting from the diamond) indicates the position along the line where the digit N appears. For example, if a diamond cell contains a 3, the third cell along that line must have a 1.

Nicely done! Great combination and interplay between the index lines and the arrows. Elegant flow and interesting logic with the index lines. Thank you!

Once the flow starts, it's a fun ride!

I didn't catch that an index line can't contain digits greater than its length. Did I just misunderstand the rule? Or is there something about the logic of index lines that implies that you can't have an index point to nowhere?

Indeed very nice flow after the break-in :)

What a beautiful puzzle, it flows so well after the breakin (and the breakin is very clever and well telegraphed). Well done!
