What is the sum?

(Published on 23. February 2025, 19:13 by Benji1810)

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

An orange line represents the sum of the cage that is in the same region (3x3 box). The sum is read as the concatenation of the 2 digits on the line, in some order.

Digits inside circles are all different.

Cells that appear in the same position relative to their default regions must not contain the same number.

what an amazing puzzle...
the overwhelming list of options reduces so nicely and quickly that it's a pure joy to eventually put your first digit in.
Very approachable and - to me - one of the most rewarding puzzles in quite a while.
stared at the 4-6es for way too long until I saw it (me getting old I guess) but yeah fun puzzle, thanks a lot.

Don't be like me and waste 20 minutes by not reading the rule about circles correctly...

It is standard disjoint groups rule. As for an example, here it is :
If there is a 3 in r1c1, then you can't have a 3 in r1c4, r1c7, r4c1, r4c4, r4c7, r7c1, r7c4 and r7c7.
