It has been a while since I set a disjoint puzzle. Check out some of my previous disjoint puzzles:

1.) Pitter Patter

2.) Dream Weaver

3.) Disjoint Hypothermia

4.) Bright Eyes

5.) Thick as Thieves

6.) Rat-a-Tat-Tat

7.) The Quartering

8.) Cross-Check

9.) Disjoint Fog

10.) Asteroid Assassin

11.) Disjoint RACECAR Quartet

12.) A Long Whisper's Night

13.) Nocking Point

14.) Disjoint Knight

15.) Disjoint Air Show

16.) Disjointages

17.) Disjoint Dominoes

18.) Disjoint Treasure Hunt

Solve with SudokuPad

• Normal Sudoku rules apply.

• Disjoint Set: Cells in the same relative position in different boxes cannot contain the same digits.

• Digits along diagonals pointed to by arrows outside the grid must sum to the number listed. Digits may repeat along the diagonal if otherwise allowed by normal Sudoku rules.

• Digits along each thermometer must increase starting from the bulb end.

• The digits along each arrow must sum to the digit in the circled cell.

Solve Time: 62:11

I rated this 3/5 difficulty.

Really nice disjoint puzzle, but it definitely felt much harder than a 2/5 difficulty puzzle IMO. Even though it was a lot tougher than I expected, this is probably my favorite of your disjoint puzzles yet.

I typically take less than 30 minutes (usually around 15 mins) for any given 2* puzzle, and my average time for 3* is between 25-60 minutes to complete. For whatever reason, this disjoint puzzle felt MUCH harder than the rest of the series, and took me quite a long time to progress. My 62 minute time is more typical for a hard 3* or easier 4* puzzle.

With that being said, I am not particularly 'proficient' with disjoint groups puzzles - and it is definitely possible I missed something that would have cracked this puzzle quicker.

The break in was really nice and I was able to progress significantly just using the little killer logic, and what this meant in other boxes as a result of the disjoint geometry. This first phase felt around a harder 2* difficulty to me.

After exhausting the little killer logic, I got very stuck for nearly 35-40 minutes. I definitely understood how the thermos were 'related' to each other, but figuring out how to actually use the geometry (and figuring out how to notate/color the logic) was very difficult for me. This early/midgame phase was much more difficult, and really felt like 3-4/5*. I was only able to solve this puzzle with a LOT of coloring on the thermos (and around the grid) and the whole process was fairly complex and relied pretty heavily on me making many very small eliminations, one at a time. I am definitely curious if there is a simpler approach to solving this puzzle; the whole geometry really felt like there should be a straightforward "trick" to making progress, but I didn't manage to find it.

Overall, though, the puzzle was very cleverly designed/constructed and had a bunch of really cool & unique ideas. I really enjoyed how the little killer and thermo clues interfaced together, almost entirely through disjoint logic. It was definitely harder than I expected, but nonetheless was very rewarding & fun to work through. Of the many dozen @meggen_033 puzzles I have solved, this felt like the hardest for me.

Definitely a great addition to the series! Thanks for sharing!
