Self Centered

(Published on 4. February 2025, 05:00 by oskode)

This puzzle is intended as a warm-up for my 9x9 puzzle It's Me Again which share the same ruleset.

Rules:

  • Sudoku: Fill all empty cells with a digit from 1-6 such that all rows, columns and marked 2x3 regions contain no repeated digits.
  • Diagonal stars: A digit in a star indicates how many copies of itself it sees diagonally (eg. if a star contains a 1, then one other 1 must be seen diagonally from that star; if the digit is a 2, then two other 2s must be seen etc.).
  • Empty Cells: All stars are given. This means that a cell without a star may not satisfy the 'Diagonal Stars' rule (eg. an empty cell containing a 3 may not see three copies of itself diagonally).
  • Every star contains a different digit

As a minor thing, the wording in the "Empty Cells" rule should probably be "...without a star MUST not satisfy..." and "...containing a 3 MUST not see..."
"May" often carries an implied "or may not," whereas "must" does not.
Anyway, onto the solve :)

I see your point, but I don't think "may not" would imply "may not (or may)". Hope you enjoyed the solve!
