Gurthy Clones
(Published on 15. January 2025, 18:31 by gdc)
My submission for this week's setting challenge by Scojo. Thanks to the testers. Hope you enjoy!
- Normal sudoku rules apply.
- Halvers: Place 9 halvers (one per row/column/box) into the grid. Each digit must appear in a halver cell. The value of a halver is half its digit.
- Region Sum Lines: Box borders divide lines into segments with equal sums.
- Rotating Clones: Cages with identical labels must contain identical digits in the same relative positions to the label.
Example Puzzle
A 4x4 example puzzle (left) and its solution (right). Halved cells are marked in red. The region sum line is satisfied because 1/2+4=1+2+3/2. The digits in the clones are identical, but rotated in the same orientation as the label - 2 is always next to the label and 4 is the furthest away from the label.

That Bob was a tough cookie. If I had looked at the provided example, the solve would have taken me only half the time ;)
