Sail the Seven Seas [Battleships]

Thank you chameleon and dumediat for testing! And thank you Thomas Snyder for your battleship sudoku book that got me into this hobby and served as inspiration :)
Rules:
• Place the given ships into the grid such that no ships touch orthogonally or diagonally. Rotating ships is allowed. Clues outside the grid count the number of cells in their respective row or column that are occupied by ships. Water cells cannot be ship cells.
• X has the same value each time it appears.
Solution code: column 6 followed by row 4, using X for water cells and 1-4 for cells containing ships of the respective size

Easy if you use all the logic provided by the clues. But can be frustrating if you don't.

Clear, subtle, & effective. Just the right mix of 'it seems really easy to place ships' and 'it feels impossible to place ships.'

Very challenging for me, but a lot of fun and incredibly elegant! :D People with experience solving battleships will probably have a much easier time than me.
