Candy Bowl

(Published on 20. March 2023, 16:34 by jwsinclair)

Normal sudoku rules apply.
Digits in cells separated by a dot are consecutive, and dots of the same color must always separate the same two digits. For each pair of digits where at least one dot is given, all possible dots of that color are given.
On thermometers, digits increase from the bulb.
Digits in cells with a shaded square must be even.

SudokuPad | unshaded | F-Puzzles | unshaded

(In the “unshaded” versions, the dots are distinguished by letters rather than colors.)

This puzzle originally appeared in Artisanal Sudoku, where I publish five new sudokus every week across a range of difficulties (most are pretty approachable by LMD standards). Check it out! And/or tell someone about it!

Very colourful! Especially after I was done with it, I coloured in the entire board. Even the non-pair number! There were some really cool deductions you could do, especially with the negative constraint.

OMG this was my favorite sudoku I've ever done!! But definitely hard. It took me over two hours to solve bc I kept messing my colours up but it was very satisfying to solve (and also the end result looks so pretty haha).

Beautiful puzzle. Thanks for sharing.

For the odd digit out, I used black. I created an elaborate scheme in my head where it was the licorice piece (nobody wanted it = solo, no dominoes)
This was an absolute treat (no pun intended) of a coloring puzzle

Shoutout to the comment that recommended rereading the rules. I was getting nervous how I couldnt solve a 2 star puzzle.

Very sweet after considering all the rules!

A super fun and clever puzzle! And quite approachable once you reread the rules and note the negative constraint ;)

Started out with coloring and once I finished coloring, it only took about 5 more minutes to finish the puzzle! Very pretty, fun logic

Wow, one of the best puzzles, so nice flow! And thank you for the unshaded version for the color-blind. I used a-i instead.

By the end of this puzzle my screen looked like a candy bowl. I used 11 colours to keep track of everything. A very nice puzzle.

One of the nicest puzzles I’ve solved in a long time, and my first ever where I used letter coding! Great flow and not too difficult!

Very enjoyable puzzle! Takes a bit of thinking but is never too hard. Thanks for the fun! :)

Extremely pleasing logic, but certainly not 'very easy'. 2 1/2 stars for me - which means, I needed to come up with what seemed like a 'new' approach, after which it came out smoothly. Thanks.
