Lego House V2 (some assembly required)

(Published on 10. March 2023, 23:44 by AnalyticalNinja )

I've been wanting to create a fresh new version of my Lego House puzzle for quite a while and I finally found the inspiration to do it, hopefully you enjoy it! :)

Here's the rules (be sure to read them carefully):
Normal sudoku rules mostly apply.
Digits on an arrow sum to the attached circle.
Cells separated by a white dot contain consecutive digits.
Cells separated by a black dot have one double the other.
Cells separated by an X sum to 10 and cells separated by a V sum to 5.
Grey squares are even and grey circles are odd.

This puzzle is solved in THREE stages.
1) Each 3x3 box surrounding the 9x9 grid is solved individually as a 3x3 sudoku using three digits from 1-9.
(every 3x3 box can have a different set of three digits.)
2) Locate which region (in the 9x9 grid) each 3x3 sudoku could be placed in and still be valid, then copy over the digit that would be placed in the red cells.
3) Solve the 9x9 sudoku using the nine transferred digits as givens.
(Regular sudoku rules apply for this stage. Place the digits 1-9 once each into every row, column, and 3x3 box in the 9x9 grid.)

Playable with Penpa+ or CTC (SudokuPad).

Solution code: Row 2 of the finished 9x9 sudoku.

This was just lovely, one of my all time favorites. It felt almost like a journey as it had these distinct chapters to it and lasted a bit longer than normal.

Very nicely done and wouldn't mind seeing another one down the road!

Very enjoyable puzzle, approachable, but filled with lots of unexpectedly surprising bits that were just tricky enough to keep it interesting consistently. Thanks for a great sequel Ninja!
