Hot and Cold

(Published on 21. January 2023, 04:06 by brennan77)

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Every row, column and box has exactly one hot cell (has a value of one greater than its digit) and exactly one cold cell (has a value of one less than its digit). Every number from 1 to 9 appears in exactly one hot cell and exactly one cold cell.

Cells in a killer cage sum to the clue, if given.

This is a really fun rule-set and a wonderful execution - some tricky bits of logic in there. Well done!

Another excellent puzzle. I loved the mid solve disjoint logic. Thanks for setting :)

This was one of the more challenging and frustrating and ultimately rewarding puzzles I've completed. I had to restart 4 times, I think. This was the first puzzle I've solved which forced me to devise new logic and approaches. Very cool, I hope to see more of this hot/cold ruleset. Well done, thanks for setting!

Brennan77: Thanks so much! Working on another now. I think this one was so tricky because it's not as good as the other, lol

I kept getting stuck on where the hot and cold cells went in box 8. Finally got that figured out and the rest of the puzzle went forward pretty well.
Thanks!
