Sudoku Variants Series (391) - Two arrows in one

(Published on 2. November 2022, 02:01 by Richard)

For this Sudoku Variants Project I have planned to publish a different Sudoku variant every week. I will see how long it takes before I am running out of ideas.

Two arrows in one
Apply classic sudoku rules.
Digits along an arrow sum to the digit in the corresponding circle two times sequentially. Digits may be repeated on arrows.

Inspiration for this type comes from zrlyg.

Solve online in F-Puzzles or CtC-app (thx Steven R!)

Solution code: Column 1, followed by column 2.

Great puzzle, loved it! I stumbled a bit at the end because i missed the sequentially part of the rules and thought the puzzle has two solutions. What confused me even more was, that the solution code allows for both the correct and incorrect solution to be used. Of course this is, if even, just a minor flaw of an otherwise amazing puzzle. Thank you for setting this :-)

Loved the doubled arrow constraint. Beautiful puzzle construction. I thought it pretty hard for 2 stars, but then I can rarely solve 3 star puzzles without help. Many thanks.

Reply: well done! getting more practices will eventually get you to the more difficult puzzles too!

It’s rare that puzzles flow so well and after the (quite gentle) break-in this one seemed to solve on its own.

Break in was trickier than expected for a 2 star, but loved the solve. Wonderful puzzle.

Thank you Richard for the patience and the many hints until I finally noticed or understood the rule with *sequentially*. Before that I tried to solve it for 3 hours, after that it was a very nice puzzle.

@ArnulfKoch: I have made your comment a hidden comment and have written the first step for you. From your words, I can derive that you were almost there, so I gave you the finishing touch for the entry. From there it should flow...

This was really enjoyable, the solve path was linear but telegraphed very well. I particularly enjoyed some deductions around box 8 :) thank you!

Numbering is incorrect. 373 should be 391.
