IVIX Sudoku

(Published on 16. September 2022, 11:05 by Qodec)

This was my submission to Peter Veenis's second random constraint challenge. (The first one was non-consecutive x-sum fortress arrow, imagine that!)

  • Normal sudoku rules apply: Each row, column, and region indicated by thick borders in the grid must contain the digits 1 to 9 once each.
  • 159: Digits in column 1 indicate the column in which the digit 1 appears in that row (e.g. if r4c1 is a 6, r4c6 is a 1). The same is true of column 5 and the digit 5, and column 9 and the digit 9.
  • XV-Pairs:
    • An X between two cells means that the digits in those cells must add up to 10.
    • An V between two cells means that the digits in those cells must add up to 5.
    • Not all possible X or V clues are necessarily given.
  • Little killers: Digits along diagonals indicated by arrows outside the grid must sum to the given number at that arrow.

Good luck!

Solution code: Row 1. I.e. the 9 digits in row 1 from left to right, for example: 123456789

Lovely initial idea, got a bit trickier in the mid solve but it's all fair and that one breakthrough was truly remarkable :)
