3 Snakes 2 Puzzles

(Published on 19. June 2022, 18:41 by the_cogito)

Had fun with this puzzle. A tad silly, and one of the stranger puzzles I've ever set, but I'm really proud of how it's turned out. I hope you enjoy!

Rules:
- Latin Square: Each digit 1-9 appears exactly once in every row and column.
- Divide the grid into 3 snakes, which don't overlap and which collectively cover the entire grid. A snake is a 1-wide path of orthogonally connected cells with no branching. A snake may not touch itself, even diagonally.
- Cells separated by a black kropki dot are in a 2:1 ratio.
- Cells containing gray circles must contain odd digits.
- Thick borders between cells indicate those cells are a part of two different snakes.
- Adjacent cells along the same snake must contain digits that differ by exactly 4 or 5.

How can this even exist ? And how did you come up with it ? I'm starting to believe thar some of you guys SEE things in these grids that mere mortals can't see. Like Neo in the Matrix... Well done again and thanks !

Thanks so much for the nice words :)

Sometimes puzzles just sort of fall nicely into place, and you sort of luck into something that feels nice.

I wish I could say that was the case here, but setting this actually took quite a bit of work trying to make sense of what was going on, first with the snakes, then more work figuring out what to do with them. I suppose maybe the magic is in finding the idea to begin with. I wish I could say how that part happens :P I'm glad you enjoyed it

Once you find the break-in, the numbers just fall into place.

The telegraphing in this very minimalistic puzzle is incredible.

Very interesting puzzle. The snakes and the digits are restricted in weird ways.
