Colorguru Chaos Deconstruction: Palindromes

(Published on 17. June 2022, 19:42 by crispy16)

This is a follow up to my first Colorguru Chaos Deconstruction puzzle. That may be a gentler introduction to the basic rule set.

Rules:

Colorguru Chaos Deconstruction: Some cells in the grid have been colored. The given cells are also labelled with a letter representing the color:
b - blue
g - green
p - purple
r - red
y - yellow

Using those 5 colors, color some more cells in the grid to satisfy the following conditions:

Every colored cell must belong to a Block. A Block consists of 1 to 5 orthogonally connected cells of the same color. Blocks of the same color cannot touch orthogonally or diagonally.

Every Block belongs to a Region. A Region consists of 2 or more orthogonally connected Blocks. Blocks within a Region cannot be the same color or size. Regions may not touch orthogonally. Regions that touch diagonally have at most one color in common.

Palindromes: Grey lines are palindromes. Every cell on a palindrome must be colored, and the sequence of colors along the line must be the same if read from either end. Every palindrome has cells in at least 2 Regions.

Puzzle:

Solution code: Using the letters for the colors given in the rules, write the colored cells in row 14 then column 13, ignoring uncolored cells. (One letter for each colored cell, so a sequence of 2 blue cells followed by 1 red and 3 yellow cells would be "bbryyy")

Tremendous puzzle.

Very nice! I forgot about the rule that blocks of the same color cannot touch diagonally, and solved about 95% of the puzzle in hard mode because of that :D

Super. Hätte ich mir eigentlich für meine Nr. 2500 aufheben können.

Phantastisch

Great puzzle, definitely way harder than the first one. Really tests your understanding of how all the rules interact with each other.

woofer and I solved this puzzle together and it took us quite a long time (although we do cut up and joke a lot while solving so that's definitely part of why it took so long), but we never felt stuck at any point and could always find something to look at the made us feel like we were constantly making progress and every new deduction was exciting and interesting all the way to the end. Definitely one of the best puzzles we have ever solved (if not the best). Thank you for making it!

This puzzle is incredible. Once you get going and understand the rules, there's deductions that exercise every single rule in a variety of ways. The palindromes work even better than the clues outside the grid did in the first puzzle, since they lead to more colored cells instead of more empty cells.
