5x5 Chaos Construction (Opposite X-Sums)

Normal irregular sudoku rules apply
Fill each row, column and region with digits 1-5 once each. The regions however are to be discovered by the solver. Opposite X-Sums: A clue outside the grid indicates the sum of the first X cells on the opposite side in the assigned row or column where X is the first cell on this side. Furthermore the first X cells from this side of the clue belong to the same region whereas the next cell belongs to a different region. A question mark can signify any positive integer.

"where X is the first cell on this side." Which side? The one of the clue or the one where the x-sum actually is?
