X-Sum Clues in the Grid

(Published on 8. November 2021, 05:19 by kolot)

After constructing the Sandwich Clues in the Grid puzzle, I wanted to use the same idea for X-sums and constructed this puzzle. The rule set of the sandwich version has actually been used before by RockyRoer. I don't know if the rule set of this one has ever been used before. I hope you enjoy it. Your comments and ratings are highly appreciated as usual!

RULES: Normal sudoku rules apply. Numbers in the circle and pills (read left to right or top to bottom) are X-sum clues, i.e. they show the sum of the first X digits in their row/column starting from left/top, where X is the first (leftmost/topmost) digit. Horizontal pills represent row clues, vertical pills represent column clues, and the circle represents either a row or a column clue to be determined by the solver.

Very nice puzzle with a nice opening sequence ! A very good sequel to the "sandwich" version with clues in the grid.

I got a little stuck close to the end but this is an amazing puzzle, so clean and such a logical exploration of the x sums rule.

I can’t resist such a clean looking grid with no digits in it at all and just one well executed rule! Nice puzzle!

very nice, but difficulty >3* for me. thanks for sharing.

Thank you marcmees! This puzzle is definitely harder than the Sandwich version. I was thinking of its difficulty as 3.5 stars and was not sure if I should select 3 or 4 stars for its difficulty. I will not be surprised if its difficulty is rated by the solvers as 4 stars.

Very nice puzzle! I really like the logic, when the clue digits are part of their own x-sum. Thx:)
