Kropki Cages

(Published on 26. September 2021, 19:06 by mathpesto)

I constructed this puzzle on June 29, 2021. I'm so pleased to say it was featured on Cracking the Cryptic on August 2, 2021 and Mark called it "One of the most brilliant sudoku finishes EVER"! (I modified the wording of the rules from what is on CtC to help make them clearer.)

Rules:

Normal sudoku rules apply.

Digits do not repeat in cages.

There is a white dot between all instances of adjacent cages with consecutive sums.

There is a black dot between all instances of adjacent cages with sums in a 1:2 ratio.

Note: "Adjacent cages" are two cages that share at least one edge.

Klasse gemacht, und nicht allzu schwer, wenn man sich gleich den richtigen Käfig anguckt.
Good construction, and not too hard if you look at the right cage.

I really do not see what the big fuss is about. At this point users are allowed to publish several puzzles in a row. It is recommended that authors do not post puzzles at a too high pace. When an author sees fit to publish a small set, most of the time he will then take a break anyway, which is why we have decided not to intervene yet.

All this may change if users start abusing the posting privileges, but it is not happening yet. Meanwhile, we are asking users like geronimo92 to refrain from posting comments attempting to enforce their own rules (or simply to annoy others, as in this case). There are ways to debate all the above matters constructively, but this is not one of them.

@bigger : you could theoretically post 7 puzzles in a row but then wait for 7 days (not the problem of which day or week but only 7 consecutive days). I tried to advert people not to do it but what mods say are words of God so now you know how it works here ;)

@geronimo92 really? So can I post 7 puzzles at 23:59 on Sunday and 7 at 00:01 on Monday. I always want to flood this portal. I'll test it out.

Easy and fun to solve but surely more brilliant puzzles with this ruleset exist on the portal.

@bigger : A piece of advice, dont say that or moderators could tell you that we are talking about limiting number of puzzles, but that rule doesnt exist for sure ;) Not more than 7 puzzles per week, so 4 in 2 hours is not a problem lol

Seriously, 4 puzzles in 2 hours. Isn't that a little bit too much
