Sudoku Variants Series (334) - Embedded Sandwiches Sudoku

(Published on 18. August 2021, 00:00 by Richard)

For this Sudoku Variants Project I have planned to publish a different Sudoku variant every week. I will see how long it takes before I am running out of ideas.

Embedded Sandwiches Sudoku
Apply classic sudoku rules.
Two arrows pointing towards each other represent the crust of a sandwich, consisting of all the cells between them. The two digits in the crust create, in arbitrary order, a two digit number which is the sum of the digits in the whole sandwich including the crust. A possible solution to a sandwich of five cells in total is therefore 53962, because 5+3+9+6+2=25, and 25 can be created using the digits in the crust, i.e. 5 and 2.

Inspiration for this type comes from DiMono.

I'm glad my puzzle inspired you. I was hoping someone else would make a puzzle using this variant. I enjoyed solving this, thank you muchly.

I found the arrows in henrypijames' Penpa link confusing to work with, possibly just because I'm so accustomed to using normal arrows for this variant, so I've also produced a Penpa+ link that uses arrows similar to those in the screenshot, and has answer check: https://git.io/J0CUz

1. Added link for online solving. (Many thanks again to Henry!)
2. Emphasized in the puzzle text that the crusts are included.

Penpa+: https://git.io/J0YHl

To emphasize that the crusts are included in the sum, I chose to use the outside arrows instead of the inside ones.
